Reflecting on her work history and achievements while being dyslexic and suffering from severe anxiety. Brendaley recalls starting her first Saturday job at 13, in Portobello market. And at the age of 13 dreaming of being a social worker (SW).
At 17 she worked voluntarily in Youth clubs, Truancy Unit and in Elderly People Homes, and paid work from aged 19, she qualified as a social work aged 26 became SW manager at age 34, managing a £250K budget.
All these roles and experiences contributed to her professional development and equipped her with a diverse skill set. From her early part-time jobs that taught her the basics of customer service, communication and teamwork, to voluntary and full-time positions that provided industry-specific knowledge and professional networking opportunities.
Every experience played a crucial role not only in shaping her career path as a qualified social worker, but also gave her the confidence and insights into her strengths, aspirations and areas for the improvements needed to venture into entrepreneurship.
Brendaley is deeply passionate about supporting disadvantaged communities, particularly in helping young people thrive. Sustainability and social impact are at the heart of everything she creates and every business venture she undertakes.
Her journey as an inventor began in 1988 when she became a mother and started developing clever, versatile products to improve daily life.
With roots in St. Lucia and Congolese heritage, Brendaley is a proud advocate for black female entrepreneurship. She is a passionate speaker on social inclusion and is dedicated to empowering others through her work.
